Q1. What is Askhow2?

Askhow2 offers the most simple, yet powerful access to immediate business 'know-how'.

Through our Knowledge Zones (see Q3 for more) or search engine (see Q4 for more), you can search for and locate practical 'How to' guides that are called Knowledge Bytes or simply, Bytes (see Q2 for more).

As a member you can read, print and email Bytes or add them to your 'Bookshelf'. However, the most important feature of the Askhow2 service is that you may also request new Bytes to be created for you if what you are looking for is not already in the Knowledge Zones. Your requests will be allocated to one of our Authors from within our network (see Q4 for more).

Q2. What is a Knowledge Byte?

Knowledge Bytes are short, practical 'How to' guides that provide best practice, advice and tips on business issues e.g. "How2 empower managers to lead and effect change". The Bytes come in three 'flavours':

Step by Step
A practical set of instructions that will facilitate a task.
Insight
A real-life account of a problem or issue that someone has faced and more importantly, how they dealt with it.
Overview
Provides an overview of all aspects of an issue or topic.

Q3. What is a Knowledge Zone?

Knowledge Zones are online libraries relating to a general area of business. The Zones are situated on the top left hand corner of this page. By simply clicking on a Knowledge Zone, you will be able to view the Knowledge Byte titles that sit within that library's categories.

Q4. Who writes the Knowledge Bytes?

Askhow2 has a network of Authors who create the Knowledge Bytes for our members. For more information on Author's benefits and how to become an Author click here.

Q5. How does the search engine work?

The search engine constitutes the easiest way to locate Knowledge Bytes. You can enter full 'How do i...?' questions, keywords or specific phrases in inverted commas. The engine searches through both the Byte titles and Byte content to provide the most accurate results.

Q6. What does my membership include?

As a member of Askhow2 you are entitled to receive the following services:

Access to all 7 Knowledge Zones

Knowledge Byte request facility (available only in annual professional membership)

Personal 'Bookshelf' for easy reference. This way you can create your personal library of Knowledge Bytes (see Q13)

Join in or start a discussion group around a Byte and its topic

E-mail a Byte to colleagues, whom we may contact

Rate Bytes and provide feedback.

Q7. What if I can’t find the Knowledge Byte I am looking for?

You can request the Knowledge Byte to be created by an Askhow2 Author for you, which is included within your membership (see Q8 for more).

Q8. How do I request a Knowledge Byte?

Whenever you make a search, the 'Request a Byte' option is at the bottom of the page. You will also have the facility to request a Byte in your personal area as well as at the top of each Knowledge Zone.

Q9. How will I know that my requested Knowledge Byte has been completed?

When your Byte has been completed and uploaded to your Bookshelf, you will be notified by email.

Q10. How many Knowledge Bytes can I request during my membership?

As many as you wish. However, as the service is needs-driven we do ask you to consider the priority of your requirements when you are making your requests.

Q11. What kind of requests can I submit?

Any request that is related to your day-to-day business requirements.

Q12. Can I 'save' my favourite Knowledge Bytes?

Yes, you can put any Bytes you have read onto your personal 'Bookshelf' by using the 'Add to Bookshelf' icon at the top or bottom of each Byte. To view your Bookshelf, simply click on the 'Your Bookshelf' icon to the left of the screen.

Q13. How do the discussion forums work?

Click on the 'Discuss this Byte' link at the top or bottom of the Byte you are looking to discuss. A new window will appear. You can respond to previous comments or begin a new string of discussions by clicking on 'Add a New Message'.

Q14. Can I provide feedback on the quality of the Knowledge Bytes and the service in general?

As the Askhow2 service is needs-driven, your feedback is essential to us. You can rate Bytes on a scale from 1:poor to 5:excellent at the bottom of each Byte and add comments to your ratings.

Q15. How can I ask for 'help'?

Simply use the 'Contact' link at the top of the page and you will be contacted shortly by a member of the Askhow2 support team.
